Early Voting

A few things to know:

To vote for me in the Primary, you must be registered at your current address in District 17 (and as a a Republican) – This is particularly important if you’ve moved recently.  If you need to update your registration, you must have that done by Monday, May 20 to vote in the June 4 primary.  The printable form to update your registration is available here: https://sdsos.gov/elections-voting/assets/VoterRegistrationFormFillable.pdf  (You can also do this in person at the County Auditor’s Office)

You can vote early at your County Auditor’s Office – during business hours on any weekday. Keep in mind that District 17 is located across both Clay and Union Counties. You must go to the County Auditor’s Office in the county of your residence. The Clay County Auditor’s office is located at 211 W Main St, Suite 200 Vermillion, SD 57069 in the Clay County Courthouse. The Union County Auditor’s office is located at 209 E Main St #200, Elk Point, SD 57025 in the Union County Courthouse.

You can also vote by mail. The printable form to request a ballot be mailed to your home is available here: https://sdsos.gov/elections-voting/assets/AbsenteeApplication_202012.PDF   If you use this option, you can return the ballot in person to your County Auditor’s Office or return it by mail. If you choose to mail it in, please allow enough time for it to be in the Auditor’s hands by the Primary, June 4, 2024. Late ballots do not count!

Sample ballots are available. This allows you to see ahead of time what other elections are on the primary ballot. Ballots vary depending on where you live – you can view your particular sample ballot here: https://vip.sdsos.gov/VIPLogin.aspx  (If you prefer to vote in person on election day, this page also tells you where your polling place will be.)
